A few years ago, I was leaving work going out to lunch. I exited the elevator and remembered waving to the guard at the front desk and minutes later I was on the floor with people standing over me yelling my name. I passed out in the front lobby. My body shut down and I literally blacked out for a few minutes. I was taken to the hospital and the doctor told me that my body couldn't take it anymore and gave up on me. At the time I was doing so much being a full-time student, working a high-paced job, taking care of a child, etc. I was up all hours and rarely got any sleep. I wasn't eating right and lived off 5-hour energy drinks and coffee. I was beating my body down and not even realizing it.
At this point in my life, I put myself first and make self-care a priority. I listen to my body and when I need to slow my pace, I do just that. Many people tend to think working day and night is the only way to reaching your goals, and I learned that it’s just not true. Taking care of yourself and getting the necessary rest is the key to being productive and reaching your goals.
Don't let your job or anything else rob you of your life and stress you to the point that you neglect yourself. This weekend go out and do something for YOU because you deserve it!
