Your next step career goals!

The other day a memory of a post I wrote in 2015 popped up on Facebook. In the post, I shared future trends that will take place in society as it relates to tech. It's interesting now seeing what was stated actually exist today in 2022. I've written several posts advising people on what will take place with the job market over the years and will continue to do so.

Since Covid, many employers are investing in technology even more to automate their processes. The need for human bodies to complete a job function will result in labor cuts. For example, a team of 20 will become a team of 10. The individuals who have tech skills will likely not be impacted. It will not remain a job-seekers market for long. Employers are stepping it up in this area and I strongly encourage you to do the same.

When applying to jobs the majority "require" basic technical experience. In many cases, advanced skills are "preferred" (for now) and individuals who have these skills will be considered as top choice. Remaining marketable as a job seeker and even an entrepreneur is the goal.

Employers and schools are urging Gen Zs to choose an IT or Engineering major and even offering free tuition to underrepresented communities to attend college. Why? Because they know this is the future and preparing the next generation, so they won't get left behind. Many tech companies have vacancies now due to a lack of talent and are willing to wait a few years for the upcoming generation to fill many of these roles.

As a Talent Advisor and Career Coach, I am stepping up in this area and taking advantage of certifications to advance my skills and knowledge. Working in the industry I see the writings on the wall and adhering to my own advice.

For your next step career goal, check out Meta Elevate, Google, Alison Courses and look up colleges that offer online certificate programs. There will likely be a cost, but the investment will definitely pay off for you overall.
